Wintry Wonderland

Today is Christmas Eve 2021. I have a small tree this year and a somewhat decorated home. My area is experiencing a series of storm watches, warnings and such unpredictable predictions, the local weather station has simply covered it all with a three-sentence paragraph covering multiple storms and conditions. Basically, it’s wet and messy outside.

For now, the clouds have moved on and the sun is shining bright as nature makes a hasty attempt to soak in last night’s moisture in preparation for what comes next. Tomorrow morning, I expect to — hope to — wake up to a very white Christmas.

Many people enjoy the warmth of their winters be on the outside. I’m not one of them. I love snow country. Specifically, the kind with pine forests and mountains. Add a lake or river nearby and my heart smiles with contentment.

To me, that first breath of crisp morning air is more invigorating than the freshest orange juice or the most aromatically rich dark coffee. Even the wind — within reason — gives me a sense of goodness as it refreshes.

Winter with snow, is my seasonal happy place — especially when writing here on the couch in front of my fireplace ;)

Wherever you roam or snuggle into this holiday season, I wish you peace in your heart and enjoyment in your landscape!
